did you know february is self promotion month? ... ok, so i made that up. but it will be for me at least, i have decided. i have been working on my promo packs over the last couple of days, and thought i would share them with you. this is my first real attempt at contacting art directors, so i'm kind of nervous and excited all at the same time.
you may have seen me post about my handmade envelopes before, i make them out of prints of my illustrations.
no boring brown mailers for me. no thank you.
i think it's always nice to get something a bit different in the post, so i'm hoping these will stand out a little.
i'm keeping the inside simple, a select few postcards and a hand written letter, bound in vellum and secured with a sticker.
for some other mail related eye candy check out this amazing book by Harriet (great name) Russell, it documents envelopes she has sent with the most inventive ways of writing the address.
also for some beautifully executed mailshots check out luke waller's exquisite lettering.
what do you send out in your promo packs? i'd love to see, leave a comment and a link if you have one.
Oooh I love this! Imagine being an art director, getting beautiful packages in the post like this day and night! It's the dream, I tells ye... ;)
ReplyDeleteLove the envelopes! great idea! and the content is really beautiful too. I'm sure they will impress the art directors! I haven't started sending my promo packs, but you can see them here: http://helenaperezgarcia.blogspot.com/search/label/Design they're small booklets with some on my illustrations. I have to start thinking how to make the envelopes stand out!

ReplyDeleteit's great isn't it! i'm amazed some of them arrived with how complicated they are (like the crossword one where the postman had to find the address!) x
